What is PC+PBT Material

 

VALOX™ 553 is a composite material of polycarbonate (PC) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). Its 30% glass fiber reinforcement and flame retardant system combine to achieve a stable balance of strength, heat resistance, and flame retardancy. This PC+PBT material boasts a UL 94 V-0/5VA flame retardancy rating and excellent outdoor weathering, maintaining stable structural and electrical properties even after long-term exposure to sunlight, moisture, and temperature fluctuations.

High mechanical strength: The glass fiber reinforced structure significantly enhances the flexural modulus and tensile strength, making it suitable for components subjected to structural stress.

Outstanding flame retardant performance: It can reach 5VA grade at a thickness of 2.3mm and above, meeting the requirements of electrical and electronic applications with high safety standards.

VALOX™ 553 is widely used in:

03 | Processing suggestions

 

VALOX™ 553 is suitable for injection molding, and the glass fiber reinforced structure maintains good fluidity during processing.

  ・Temperature control: The temperatures of the barrel and the mold must be strictly set to prevent stress concentration and surface defects.

  ・Mold material selection: It is recommended to use wear-resistant steel and perform fine polishing to reduce the wear of glass fibers.

  ・Tratamiento de secado: Keep the raw materials fully dry before molding to avoid bubbles or surface problems caused by water vapor.

Q2: How is the flame retardancy of this pc pbt material under thin-walled conditions?
A: Even at a thickness of 0.86mm, it can reach the UL 94 V-0 grade, and when the thickness is greater, it can reach the 5VA standard.

Q3: Is special equipment required for processing?
A: A conventional injection molding machine will do, but it is recommended to use wear-resistant molds and ensure that the raw materials are dry.
