Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a high-density, high-crystallinity thermoplastic engineering plastic polymerized from formaldehyde. It is widely used across various industrial fields due to its outstanding physical, mechanical, and chemical properties, particularly excelling in wear resistance. Specifically, POM is divided into POM-H (homopolymer) and POM-K (copolymer), both of which demonstrate excellent performance in their respective application areas.
POM FW-7005 is a high-performance polyoxymethylene material with a tensile strength of 54 MPa at 23°C, indicating its ability to withstand high loads in mechanical applications without breaking easily. This material has a dynamic friction coefficient of only 0.1, making it particularly notable in applications requiring low friction. Additionally, POM FW-7005 has an elongation at break of 70% at 23°C, showcasing excellent elasticity and toughness.
Moreover, POM FW-7005 has a flexural modulus of 2350 MPa and a flexural strength of 78 MPa, indicating reliable support and deformation resistance in structural applications. In the notched Izod impact test, POM FW-7005 has an impact strength of 11.22 kJ/m², demonstrating excellent impact resistance. Regarding heat deflection temperature, the unannealed material has a heat deflection temperature of 155°C at 0.45 MPa and 105°C at 1.8 MPa, ensuring good dimensional stability even in high-temperature environments.
Polyoxymethylene is a smooth, glossy, hard, and dense material, typically light yellow or white, capable of long-term use within the temperature range of -40°C to 100°C. It exhibits exceptional wear resistance and self-lubrication, outperforming most engineering plastics, and has good resistance to oils and peroxides. By adding UV stabilizers, the UV resistance of polyoxymethylene can be significantly improved, allowing it to maintain excellent performance in outdoor applications.
In practical applications, POM FW-7005 is widely used across multiple industries due to its superior comprehensive properties. In the automotive industry, it is used to manufacture fuel system components and transmission parts, favored for its wear resistance and mechanical strength. In the electronics and electrical industry, POM FW-7005 is used to produce switches, sockets, and connectors, with its stable electrical and mechanical properties ensuring product reliability and safety. In mechanical engineering, POM FW-7005 is suitable for making gears, bearings, and sliders, widely used for its high strength and low friction coefficient in high-demand mechanical components.
