TPU 1185 A resin is a hydrolysis- and wear-resistant thermoplastic polyurethane suitable for injection, extrusion, and blow molding. With high tensile strength, excellent damping properties, and chemical resistance, it is widely used in plugs, hoses, pipes, seals, sports goods, and cable sheathing.

Overview of TPU Thermoplastic Polyurethane Resin

TPU 1185 A is a polyether-based thermoplastic polyurethane resin with high abrasion resistance, hydrolysis resistance and low-temperature elasticity through a unique molecular design, with a tensile strength of 40-48MPa and a hardness range of 85A-95A. Compared with ordinary polyester-based TPUs, its hydrolysis resistance is increased by 35%, and its low-temperature impact resistance (-40℃) is excellent, which is compliant with the ISO 10993 medical grade and FDA food contact standards. It meets ISO 10993 medical grade and FDA food contact standards, and is suitable for injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding and other processing techniques.

Hydrolysis resistance

Tested at 85℃/85%RH environment for 1000 hours, the mechanical properties decay <10%, suitable for underwater cable sheaths, marine equipment seals and other long-term wet environment applications.

Superior abrasion resistance

The TPU thermoplastic polyurethane resin passed DIN-53516 test, the abrasion amount is ≤25mm³, which is better than most engineering plastics, and it is suitable for high friction scenarios, such as mining conveyor belt rollers and industrial tyres.

Damping and vibration damping performance

The vibration absorption efficiency is up to 70%, which can reduce the noise by more than 15dB when used in automotive suspension bushings and mechanical damping pads.

High tensile strength

Elongation at break ≥300%, tensile strength 45MPa, can replace some metal parts to reduce weight (e.g. drone structural parts).

Low temperature flexibility

Remain flexible under extreme cold environment, avoiding the brittle crack problem of polyester-based TPU (e.g. ski equipment, polar equipment).

Chemical resistance

TPU 1185 A resin is resistant to motor oils, weak acids and alkalis (pH 3-11) and is suitable for chemical plant pipe linings and plating equipment fittings.

Antibacterial and mildew proof

Through JIS Z 2801 antibacterial test, the antibacterial rate of E. coli is > 99%, which is safer for medical catheter and food packaging film.

Cable jacketing and termination protection

TPU thermoplastic polyurethane resin's combination of hydrolysis + abrasion resistance extends the life of cables in salt spray/friction environments by up to 3 times for submarine fibre optic cables, robotic drag chain cables.

Seals and damping elements

In automotive and industrial machinery, TPU 1185 A resin is used in seals and damping elements to reduce noise, absorb vibration and increase equipment life.

Mining and Tubing Applications

TPU resins are used in high-pressure hoses and tubes for hydraulic supports in coal mines to withstand harsh environmental conditions, with burst pressures >25 MPa.

Film and moulded ear tags

The material is suitable for the production of high-strength film and moulded ear tags, with good weather resistance and tear resistance, suitable for agriculture and food industry applications.

Sporting goods

TPU 1185 A resin has 40% higher resilience than EVA material, shock absorption without collapse, and is commonly used in the manufacture of sports equipment, such as protective gear, shoe soles and inflatable equipment.
