Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal or Delrin, is a highly important engineering plastic widely used across various fields due to its excellent physical, mechanical, and chemical properties. POM, often referred to as acetal or engineering thermoplastic, is a high-density, high-crystallinity thermoplastic material formed by the polymerization of formaldehyde. It mainly exists in two forms: homopolymer (POM-H) and copolymer (POM-K).

POM's high density and crystallinity endow it with superior comprehensive performance. As a crystalline polymer without side chains, POM has a smooth, glossy surface, appearing in light yellow or white. This material is extremely hard and dense, capable of long-term use within a temperature range of -40°C to 100°C, showcasing outstanding durability. Its high hardness and density make it perform excellently in mechanical applications, especially in components requiring high precision and high wear resistance, where POM is indispensable.

POM's wear resistance and self-lubricating properties surpass most other engineering plastics. Its low surface friction coefficient makes it ideal for use in dynamic contact parts such as gears and bearings. Additionally, POM has good chemical resistance, being able to withstand oils and peroxides. This makes it widely used in the chemical and automotive industries, particularly in the manufacture of fuel system components and electronic and electrical parts.

Specifically, POM EC-610B exhibits a series of impressive performance parameters. According to the user-provided document, the tensile strength of POM EC-610B at 23°C is 54 MPa, with an elongation of 5%. Its flexural modulus and flexural strength are 2800 MPa and 98 MPa, respectively. The notched Izod impact strength at room temperature (23°C) is 26.53 kJ/m², and 3.06 kJ/m² at low temperature. The heat deflection temperature of POM EC-610B is 160°C (0.45 MPa) and 120°C (1.8 MPa) in the unannealed state. Its specific gravity is 1.43 g/cm³, with shrinkage rates in the flow direction and perpendicular direction being 1.6% and 1.9%, respectively. The Rockwell hardness is 82 (R scale).

These excellent properties make POM EC-610B an ideal choice for engineering applications. Its high hardness and high wear resistance make it widely used in the automotive industry for fuel system components and electronic and electrical parts. In mechanical engineering, POM materials are often used to manufacture high-precision gears, bearings, and sliding elements, ensuring equipment stability and longevity. In the electronics and electrical field, POM is used to make connectors, switches, and housings, showcasing its superior mechanical and chemical properties. Additionally, in the consumer goods industry, POM is widely used in zippers, fasteners, and handles, providing a good user experience and durability.
