Hytrel® 7246 Overview

 

Hytrel® 7246 is a thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPC-ET) developed by DuPont with excellent flexibility, weatherability and processing compatibility. Widely used in automotive parts, appliance cables, industrial hoses, sports equipment and other applications, Hytrel® 7246 is a representative material for today's convergence of engineering plastics and elastomers.

01 | Compatible with various processing methods, covering a wider range of production scenarios

 

Hytrel® 7246 can be applied to a variety of thermal processing methods, which significantly improves the flexibility of production:

Injection moulding: suitable for parts with complex structure and high precision requirements

Extrusion moulding: widely used for hoses, cable jackets, profiles, etc.

Thermoforming: easy to form sheet products

Pouring moulding: supports hollow structure or special shape processing.

❄️ Extremely low brittleness: flexibility and non-cracking properties, even at temperatures of up to -90°C Extremely low embrittlement temperature: flexible and shatterproof even below -90°C.

🔥 UL94 HB flame-retardant certification: basic fire protection requirements are met.

The thermal stability of Hytrel® 7246 allows it to be used in high-temperature components such as engine compartments, motor systems, etc.:

♨️ Heat Deflection Temperature (0.45MPa) of 100°C

Q: For which processes is Hytrel® 5526 suitable? Are there any special equipment requirements?
A: Hytrel® 5526 can be used for injection and extrusion moulding, and is suitable for most general-purpose thermoplastic elastomer processing equipment without any additional modifications.

Q: Can this material be used in wire sheathing or bellows production?
A: Absolutely. It has good flexibility, UV resistance and thermal stability, making it ideal for extruded products such as hoses, cable jackets and bellows.

Q: Can it be used for automotive structural parts or snap injection moulded parts?
A: It is applicable. The material has good structural toughness and dimensional stability, and can be used to manufacture automotive injection moulded parts that require repeated snap-fit or long-term stress.

Q: Any suggestions for mould design? Is there a large shrinkage?
A: The shrinkage rate is about 1.6%. It is recommended to compensate for this in the mould design, especially for products with high structural accuracy, paying attention to the gate layout and cavity compensation.
