EVOH EV 3851F Product Overview

 

EVOH EV 3851F is a high-performance ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer material produced by SK Global Chemical Co., LTD. It is designed for extrusion molding and is suitable for a variety of uses such as multi-layer co-extrusion film, shrink film, and thermoforming sheet. This material belongs to a heat-stable grade, combining processing flexibility with stable barrier properties, and is particularly suitable for packaging solutions with high requirements for gas barrier properties.

EVOH EV 3851F Advantages

 

1. Outstanding oxygen barrier ability

This material performs well in oxygen barrier properties. According to ISO 14663 test data, at a temperature of 20°C and a relative humidity of 85%, its oxygen permeability per unit thickness is only 2 cm³·20μm/m²·24hr·atm. This value is at a relatively low level among similar EVOH materials, indicating that it can effectively isolate oxygen intrusion and is very suitable for packaging oxygen-sensitive food and pharmaceutical products.

2. Combination of strength and durability

In terms of mechanical properties, EV 3851F shows good rigidity and toughness, with a tensile modulus of 4,000 MPa and a flexural modulus of 3,690 MPa. This high-strength performance helps to improve the overall compression and bending resistance of the packaging material, and reduces warping and structural loss during moulding, logistics or end-use processes. Even under conditions of high humidity or temperature differences, the material maintains the stable shape and sealing performance of the packaging.

3. Process suitability and processing advantages

EVOH EV 3851F has a melt index of 1.8 g/10min (2.16kg at 190°C) versus 3.9 g/10min (2.16kg at 210°C), which provides good melt flow for a wide range of extrusion processes. It can be co-processed with commonly used substrates such as PE, PA and PP to build high-performance multilayer structures, providing more flexibility in production.

4. Excellent thermal stability

With a melting point of 173°C and a Vicat softening point of 162°C, the material possesses strong heat resistance and is able to cope with challenges in high-temperature moulding and heat sealing scenarios. In thermoforming or high-temperature transport environments, it is less prone to thermal deformation, which helps to improve product yields.

1. Frozen food packaging: Especially suitable for meat, dairy products and other products that need to be kept fresh for a long time, and can maintain a low oxygen permeability even in high humidity environments.

2. Pharmaceutical packaging: applied to the packaging of injections, small-volume vials and other products, which can effectively isolate water vapour and oxygen, and protect the stability of active ingredients.

3. Electronic device protection: It is widely used in vacuum packaging or moisture-proof encapsulation of sensitive components to extend storage life and reduce scrap rate.
