Introduction to Plastic DOW LDPE 310E
In today's fast-paced consumer market, packaging is not only about protection but also about experience. LDPE 310E, a representative work of Dow Chemical in the field of low-density polyethylene (plastic LDPE), is reshaping the performance standards of film packaging - it is not just plastic, but a solution.
01 | Why DOW LDPE 310E? An engineering evolution about "extreme flexibility"
There are countless plastic LDPE materials. What makes 310E stand out among numerous film-grade ldpe? The core lies in its combination of characteristics that are "soft but not weak" :
Extremely high ductility: The vertical elongation rate is as high as 570%, which means that the film can handle automatic packaging and stretching processes with ease, is not easy to tear or deform.
Outstanding puncture and tear resistance: 50N puncture resistance + 350g tear strength = full-process physical protection, safeguarding from storage to transportation.
Low fog and high gloss visual performance: With a gloss value of 58 and a low fog density of 9.2%, it makes transparent packaging more textured and is an ideal choice for high-end applications such as meat, frozen food, and pre-prepared dishes.
Strong multi-layer co-extrusion compatibility: Specifically designed for multi-layer structures, plastic ldpe 310e can stably integrate whether used as the outer layer to enhance the appearance or as the middle layer to strengthen the cushioning, contributing to the creation of thinner, lighter and higher-strength composite film solutions.
02 | The advantages of being free of release agents: Clean, not just in appearance
DOW LDPE 310E adopts a design without release agents, avoiding the migration risk caused by surface smoothness additives. This design is particularly suitable for:
Direct food contact packaging
High value-added inner layer materials in multi-layer co-extruded films
Medical or sterile environment film applications
This is not only the "purity" of the materials, but also a responsible attitude towards safety.
03 | Who is using it? The common choice of leading enterprises
Plastic LDPE 310E has been widely used by global food packaging manufacturers, cold chain logistics packaging solution providers, and key links in the multi-layer film supply chain. It is no longer merely a material but is regarded as an "invisible innovator" that enhances the competitiveness of products.
Industry Application Case: The "Unsung Hero" from Cold Chain Packaging to Ready-to-Eat Meals
In the packaging process of pre-prepared dishes, chilled meat and frozen seafood, DOW LDPE 310E has been included as a core film structure material by many first-line packaging enterprises at home and abroad. A certain cold chain packaging enterprise adopted plastic ldpe 310e as the inner layer. While maintaining high transparency, it achieved a thinning rate of more than 10% for the stretch film and saved more than one million yuan in material costs annually.
Another ready-to-eat food enterprise has enhanced the puncture resistance and sealing tightness of the packaging by using LDPE 310E in the middle layer of the shrink film, reducing the loss rate of the products by nearly 30% during transportation in an environment ranging from 0°C to -25°C.

06 | Processing suggestions: How to maximize the performance of Plastic LDPE 310E
To achieve a better blown film effect, here are some practical suggestions:
Recommended temperature range for film blowing: 170-200°C;
Suggested blow-up ratio (BUR) : 2:1 to 3:1;
Screw design: The use of a general LDPE-specific screw with an L/D ratio of over 18 can ensure uniform plasticization.
Avoid high shear conditions: This helps maintain its excellent tensile properties and low fog characteristics.
07 | Material selection suggestions: Is it suitable for your current product structure?
Situations where DOW LDPE 310E is recommended for use:
Multi-layer co-extruded films are currently in use, and high requirements are placed on the flexibility and purity of the inner layer materials
It is necessary to meet the requirement of no additives, such as the packaging of baby food and pet food
The product has process requirements for low-temperature transportation, shrink film packaging or high-speed bag-making
Material solutions that can enhance the mechanical properties of thin films without increasing their thickness are being sought
Unrecommended scenarios:
Injection molding applications with particularly high requirements for processing fluidity (MFI)
Products that require the material itself to have high smoothness and fluidity (such as the need for smoothness agent support)
